The Mayor and City Council shall discuss and take action to approve a budget not to exceed $25,388,785 for the new Police Administration Building and Emergency Communication Center and to revise project #38049 to solely include the construction, IT/Communications, and complete outfitting (PSAP consoles and FF&E) of the new Police Administration Building and Emergency Communication Center. AGENDA ITEM DESCRIPTION
With this new facility we are seeking to meet our growth needs until we reach a population of approximately 150,000 - 200,000. Future growth, south of Ak-Chin will likely require a Police Annex to service this area in the years/decades to come.
The general market is seeing a significant rise in construction costs due to material supply chain issues and labor shortages. To date, the all in cost has risen to nearly $25.4 million. The graph below provides our original funding and suggested funding to cover cost escalation.
