Minutes

The Committee will approve the minutes from the June 15, 2026 meeting. Discussion  
and Action.  
L. Olivieri moved to approve June 15, 2026’s minutes. M. McCarthey seconded.  
Minutes approved unanimously.

Call to the Public  
Judith Zaimont provided six announcements during call to public. She expressed  
gratitude to the city for grant funding, listed three upcoming events, offered a  
newspaper article pertaining to Hilltop School for the Arts and her discontent of the  
value of the city grant funds in comparison to the cost of pickleball courts.

The Committee will hear reports from the chair and committee members. Discussion  
Only.  
Committee Chair Olivieri expressed gratitude for the city’s grant funds and announced  
Maricopa Music Circle will begin rehearsal in September. Committee Member  
McCarthey shared Kids Day Maricopa will be held on Saturday, September 19, 2026  
from 10am-4pm.  
The Committee will hear reports from the Council Liaisons. Discussion Only.

Staff Liaison Travis Orian shared Staff Liaison Brenda Campbell’s handout and report  
of the Call to Artist -Artist Spotlight application. Staff Liaison Travis Orian reported on  
Stagecoach Days. The annual event will welcome back a community favorite, Salsa  
Festival. It will be held in tandem with the Stagecoach Days celebration held at  
Pacana Park. The RFP yielded four applicants eager to partner with the city to  
continue offering teen programming.

The Committee will review and discuss an example of a jurying criteria sheet presented  
by Travis Orian. Discussion and Recommendation.  
Staff Liaison Travis Orian distributed an Art Review Cheat Sheet scratch paper. The  
committee recommended use as a working trial for the upcoming jurying process.  
The Committee will discuss and select themes and schedule for the 2027 and possibly  
2028 art galleries. Discussion and Action.  
The committee selected themes and schedules for the 2027-2028 Art Gallery Display.  
Selection as follows; AZ Wild displayed May-August 2027, Wishes, Wants, Wonders  
displayed September-December 2027, Expressions of Color displayed January-April  
2028, Up-cycled Treasures displayed May- August 2028 and Old West, Old Maricopa  
displayed September-December 2028.  
L. Olivieri motioned to approved the themes and schedules. M. McCarthey seconded.  
All approved unanimously.
