TITLE

The Mayor and City Council shall discuss and take action to enter into an Intergovernmental Agreement (IGA) between the City of Maricopa and Pinal County regarding the sharing of a regional mass notification system.  Discussion and Action.

 

AGENDA ITEM DESCRIPTION

The City of Maricopa has utilized a shared mass notification system with Pinal County. Pinal County recently migrated to a new mass notification system. The new system procurement resulted in the need to enter into an IGA between the City of Maricopa and Pinal County.  This will enable the City of Maricopa to maintain control of public and employee mass notifications during emergency and non-emergency incidents. 

 

The new mass notification system will allow citizens to opt in to specific categories of public notifications communicated by the City of Maricopa.

 

City departments can also utilize this system for internal notifications (emergency staff callout, continuity of operations information, Etc.).

 

This item will be presented, if necessary, by City of Maricopa Emergency Manager George Burger and Pinal County Emergency Management Coordinator Courtney Prock.

 

STAFF RECOMMENDATION

Staff recommends entering into an Intergovernmental Agreement between the City of Maricopa and Pinal County.
