The Mayor and City Council shall discuss and possibly take action to approve an additional budget amount of $1,520,000 for the construction of the Lakes Park improvements. AGENDA ITEM DESCRIPTION

The Lakes Park project is located at the southwest corner of W. Placone Rd. and N. Powers Pkwy. West. The project will provide two little league ballfields, restrooms/concessions/storage building, playground, basketball court, ramadas, parking lot, lighting, walking path, landscape and irrigation.

In May 2021 the City contracted with J2 Engineering to design the park improvements. Through the design process, the City coordinated with the local neighborhood to receive comments/input on the improvement plans. J2 Engineering recently completed the final plans and the City began working with a contractor, Haydon/Earthscapes, through a Job Order Contract to develop the final construction costs. Due to the ongoing escalation in price for materials and labor, the construction costs have escalated and additional funding is needed to complete the proposed improvements.

The FY23 budget includes $5,379,000 to finalize the design plans and complete construction of the improvements. The actual costs for these improvements are $6,899,627, which includes finalizing the design, construction, and construction inspections/administration. The additional budget request of $1,520,000 is currently available within the Development Impact Fee #2 fund balance.

This item will be presented by Keith Brown, Director of the Office of Engineering and CIP Development
