AGENDA ITEM DESCRIPTION
The Regional Wireless Cooperative (RWC) wireless network is dedicated to public safety communications, interoperability, and shared resources. The network is essentially a closed network which focuses on robust, effective transmission of voice and data through different media and protocols. The City of Maricopa currently has an Inter-Governmental Agreement (IGA) with City of Phoenix, the Administrative Manager of the RWC network, to support public safety communications for Maricopa. Providing a permanent communications tower with communications equipment components at Fire Station 572 will integrate Maricopa’s new communications infrastructure to the RWC network. The project budget will be drawn from 10010000-53340 ($179,000), 10010000-54441 ($100,000), and 10022525-51100 ($121,000).
STAFF RECOMMENDATION
Staff recommends approval of the budget to construct and purchase communication equipment for the Communications Tower at Fire Station 572.
