TITLE
The Mayor and City Council shall consider and take action on approving a Lease and Facility Usage Agreement with the Maricopa Historical Society for the City facility located at 44240 W Maricopa-Casa Grande Highway and authorizing the city manager to execute any necessary extensions and closing documents related thereto. AGENDA ITEM DESCRIPTION
The City of Maricopa has previously partnered with the Maricopa Historical Society by allowing them to use the old library for their meetings, displays, and functions. As the old library has been repurposed as a new community center that facilitates the veterans and seniors, we are entering into this lease to provide a new location for the Historical society to call their own.
The Maricopa Historical Society is an important part of our city, as they preserve our history and promote our heritage. They help foster a sense of identity and community as they keep Maricopa's history alive. The approval of the lease will allow the Maricopa Historical Society to occupy the property and facilitate the public use of the building located at 44240 W Maricopa-Casa Grande Highway.
The contract proposes a lease agreement that will begin as soon as the building remodeling is complete and will expire on June 20, 2022, with the option for three (3) additional one (1) year terms.
STAFF RECOMMENDATION
Staff recommends that the Mayor and City Council approve the Lease and Facility Usage Agreement with the Maricopa Historical Society for the City facility located at 44240 W Maricopa-Casa Grande Highway.
