AGENDA ITEM DESCRIPTION
The Maricopa Association of Governments (MAG) will sponsor a pilot program to install on John Wayne Parkway, the first automated signal and timing plan generator in Arizona. The system called “Code Green” will use camera with advanced Artificial Intelligence technology to accurately track vehicle movement and automatically collect real-time traffic data. The system will collect accurate turning movement data for timing plan creation, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The data collector tracks and counts vehicles that will enable the possibility of creating timing plans for each day of the week or to run multiple timing plans throughout the day. The system will be owned and operated by ADOT and the City of Maricopa will have access to the information through ADOT.
