TITLE

The Mayor and City Council shall hear public comment regarding the use of Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds. The City of Maricopa is expected to receive approximately $182,844 in FY2019 federal CDBG funds from the Arizona Department of Housing Regional Account (RA).

AGENDA ITEM DESCRIPTION

This portion of the meeting will serve as a public hearing and the required Second Public Meeting to gain input on possible uses for the CDBG Funding. The Mayor and City Council will hear a presentation from Economic and Community Development on the project brought forward at the First Public Meeting held on May 6, 2021.  The potential CDBG project is named and described as follows:

Edwards Avenue Fencing: Cost Estimate: $202,763.00

Improvements include building approximately 1,554LF of 6’ tall Concrete Masonry Unit (CMU) fence. All CMU walls must be painted to match the color of the existing CMU fences of the communities along Edwards Ave. and McDavid Rd. In addition to CMU fence construction, it will be required to remove and dispose existing fences that are no longer necessary. Structural concrete and CMU fence must be installed per City’s adopted codes.

The project lies within the Heritage District Redevelopment Area and will alleviate Slum & Blight.

It is expected that the City Council will select the final project after this hearing and adopt applicable resolutions.
