TITLE
The Mayor and City Council shall discuss and possibly take action on approval of Amendment No. 2 to original Intergovernmental Agreement (IGA) CON 19-23 (ADOT IGA 19-0007382-I) between the City of Maricopa and the State of Arizona for design and construction of sidewalk improvements on State Route 347, Smith-Enke Road to Edison Road. Total estimate for this project is $495,530. This project is funded with Congestion Management Air Quality (CMAQ) federal funds of $453,450 (94.3%) and a local match of $42,080 (5.7%). Funding for the local match will be drawn from the Streets HURF Capital and County Road Tax Fund in the tentatively approved FY 21-22 CIP budget. Discussion and Action.
AGENDA ITEM DESCRIPTION
The work proposed under this IGA consists of the design and construction of sidewalk improvements on State Route 347, Smith-Enke Road to Edison Road and will construct 1400 LF of five-foot wide sidewalk behind the back of curb on the east side of State Route 347 beginning about 915’ north of Edison Road and ending just south of Smith Enke Road. Gabion baskets will be constructed at the back of the proposed sidewalk to limit impacts to the existing drainage channel east of State Route 347. Existing signs will be relocated to accommodate construction of the sidewalk and the gabion baskets.
The IGA designates the State of Arizona, acting by and through its Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT), to serve as the City’s authorized agent for the roadway project and allows the use of federal funds for the project. The State will administer the design and construction of the project. The Total Estimated Project Cost is $495,530 and the City’s funding match is estimated at $42,080. If the final Project Costs exceed the estimated project cost, the City is responsible for, and agrees to pay, any and all actual costs exceeding the estimated costs.
