AGENDA ITEM DESCRIPTION
Every year the Intergovernmental Affairs Director presents the Legislative Platform to the City Council for approval. This document lays out the priority items for the City as they pertain to the state legislature, Congress and state and federal agencies. By approving the Platform, the Council grants authority to the Director and to themselves to speak on pertinent legislation and programs that affect the City. It has been the experience of the Director that the state legislature is more and more adamant that city staff have the approval of their Councils before weighing in on legislation.
