TITLE

A Resolution of the Mayor and City Council of the City of Maricopa, Arizona, naming the City facility currently being constructed at 18160 N. Maya Angelou Drive the Maricopa Library and Cultural Center.  Discussion and Action.

AGENDA ITEM DESCRIPTION

As we continue to see the library building come out of the ground, we have an opportunity to consider naming the new library.  Since the building will be more than a library, would recommend for your consideration naming the building the Maricopa Library and Cultural Center.  The word library would appear more prominently in the building signage, but we believe that the facility will serve as a hub for cultural events, activities, and displays.

The current library is already leading the way in the display of art, cultural history, and activities that expose our residents to both.

STAFF RECOMMENDATION

Staff would recommend for your consideration that the Mayor and City Council name the library currently under construction the Maricopa Library and Cultural Center.
