A Resolution of the Mayor and City Council of the City of Maricopa, Arizona, designating the election date and purpose of election; designating the deadline for voter registration; and designating the place and the last date for candidates to file nomination papers. Discussion and Action.

 

AGENDA ITEM DESCRIPTION

August 4, 2020 has been set as the time for holding the Primary Election in the City of Maricopa for the purpose of nominating candidates for the office of Mayor and council member whose names shall appear on the ballot at the General Election to be held on November 3, 2020.  Any candidates receiving a majority of all the votes cast at the Primary Election will be declared elected without running at the General Election.

 

County registration and voting lists will be used for the municipal election.  In order to be qualified to vote at the Primary, you must be registered by July 6, 2020. Cut-off for General Election is October 5, 2020.

 

Candidates seeking municipal office may obtain nomination papers, and other materials which must be filed by candidates with the City Clerk, at Maricopa City Hall 39700 W. Civic Center Plaza, Maricopa, Arizona beginning October 16, 2019.  Candidates must file nomination petitions and other nomination forms no earlier than Monday, March 7, 2020 and no later than Wednesday, April 6, 2020 at 5:00 p.m. Candidate packets need to be filed at the City Clerk’s Office - 39700 W. Civic Center Plaza, Maricopa, Arizona, in order for their names to appear on the Primary Election ballot.
