Title: The Mayor and City Council shall discuss and possibly take action to approve Amendment No. 2 to the current Intergovernmental Agreement (IGA) between the State of Arizona and the City of Maricopa for design and construction of roadway improvements for the Maricopa/Casa Grande (MCG) Highway, Porter Road to White & Parker Road. The current IGA dated July 5, 2016 and Amendment No. 1 dated May 7, 2018, designates the State of Arizona, acting by and through its Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT) to serve as the City’s authorized agent for the roadway project and allows the use of federal funds for the project. The federal funds and local match designated for the project in the current IGA and Amendment No. 1 are $4,080,398 federal and $340,498 local for a total of $4,420,896. AGENDA ITEM DESCRIPTION
The work proposed under the IGA, Amendment No. 1, and this Amendment No. 2 consists of the design and construction associated with adding two additional through traffic lanes (one in each direction) on MCG Highway from Porter Road to White & Parker Road to increase traffic capacity. Other improvements include adding separate turn lanes at each leg of the signalized intersection of White & Parker Road, reconstruction of the existing pavement section, and drainage facilities. The State will advertise, bid, award, and will administer the scoping, design and construction of the project. The plans, specifications and estimates for the project will be prepared by the State and will be submitted to the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) for approval due to the federal funding associated with the project.
