TITLE

AGENDA ITEM DESCRIPTION
The Operation Stonegarden Program Grant (OPSG) program supports enhanced cooperation and coordination among Customs and Border Protection (CBP), United States Border Patrol (USBP), and local, tribal, territorial, state, and Federal law enforcement agencies. The OPSG Program funds investments in joint efforts to secure the United States borders along routes of ingress from international borders to include travel corridors in states bordering Mexico and Canada, as well as states and territories with International water borders.
The City of Maricopa is a new partner with Operation Stonegarden and through this grant, will work collaboratively to identify border security threats within their areas and assist with Operation Stonegarden Deployments. The acceptance of this grant provides the deployment overtime costs and mileage expenses to finance all deployment activities.
Maricopa Police Department deployment for Operation Stonegarden is strictly overtime paid through the grant, not affecting normal staffing levels within the City of Maricopa and the police department. The deployment area agreed to between the Maricopa Police Department and the US Border & Customs is within Maricopa, South to Highway 84 and West of the City no more than 15 miles. The deployment will also be strictly on roadways, identifying narcotics and human smuggling activities and apprehending those suspected of these crimes. Normal deployment will not include off-road activities.
