TITLE
The Mayor and City Council shall discuss and possibly take action on approval of a Presiding Judge Agreement with Lyle Riggs. Discussion and Action.
AGENDA ITEM DESCRIPTION
On October 4, 2016, pursuant to Section 5-12(b) of the Maricopa City Code, the Mayor and City Council approved a Presiding Judge Agreement with Lyle Riggs through December 31, 2018.
Pursuant to Section 5-12(a) of the Maricopa City Code, "[t]he presiding officer of the municipal court and such other magistrates as deemed necessary by the council shall be appointed by the council." The proposed Presiding Judge Agreement will appoint Lyle Riggs as the City's Presiding Judge until December 31, 2022, which corresponds to his term as the Justice of the Peace for Maricopa/Stanfield Justice Court.
STAFF RECOMMENDATION
Staff recommend that the Mayor and City Council approve the Presiding Judge Agreement.
