TITLE
An Ordinance of the Mayor and City Council of the City of Maricopa, Arizona, adopting "Chapter 8 Business Regulations Revised 2018" by reference as revised Article 8-1 through Article 8-3 of the Maricopa City Code and repealing Chapter 8 of the previously adopted City Code and provide for severability and declaring an emergency. Discussion and Action.
AGENDA ITEM DESCRIPTION
As presented to Council on November 6, 2018, City staff has developed a Business Registry Program. This program requires an amendment to Chpater 8 of the City Code, which sets forth the rules and regulations for conducting business within the City. This revision to Chapter 8 provides that a license is required for Adult Oriented Businesses and Regulated Businesses conducting business with the city limits but eliminates the license requirement for all other businesses. Regulated Businesses include: (i) auctioneers, pawnbrokers, scrap dealers and second hand dealers, (ii) tobacco retail establishments, (iii) massage establishments, (iv) tattoo and/or body piercing establishments, and (v) after hours establishments.
STAFF RECOMMENDATION
Staff recommends the Mayor and City Council of the City of Maricopa, Arizona adopt Chapter 8 Business Regulations Revised 2018, which was adopted as a public record by resolution 18-29.
