TITLE
A Resolution of the Mayor and City Council of the City of Maricopa, Arizona, declaring as a public record that certain document entitled "Chapter 8 Business Regulations Revised 2018" of the Maricopa City Code, relating to the update of rules and regulations relating to conducting business within the City of Maricopa and amending the Maricopa City Code by repealing Chapter 8 of the previously adopted City Code and replacing that with Article 8-1 through Aritlce 8-3. Discussion and Action.
AGENDA ITEM DESCRIPTION
As presented to Council on November 6, 2018, City staff has developed a Business Registry Program. This program requires an amendment to Chpater 8 of the City Code, which sets forth the rules and regulations for conducting business within the City. This revision to Chapter 8 provides that a license is required for Adult Oriented Businesses and Regulated Businesses conducting business with the city limits but eliminates the license requirement for all other businesses. Regulated Businesses include: (i) auctioneers, pawnbrokers, scrap dealers and second hand dealers, (ii) tobacco retail establishments, (iii) massage establishments, (iv) tattoo and/or body piercing establishments, and (v) after hours establishments.
STAFF RECOMMENDATION
Staff recommends the Mayor and City Council approve the resolution for amendments to Chapter 8 of the City Code related to Business Regulations.
