TITLE
The Mayor and City Council shall discuss and possibly take action on approving a purchase of one (1) BMW R1200 RT-P Police Motorcycle from GOAZ for the City of Maricopa Police Department in an amount not to exceed $31,129.49. Included in this purchase all necessary police upfitting. This purchase is in accordance with the City of Maricopa Purchasing Code, Article IV, Section 3-223, Cooperative Purchasing and will be paid from Capital Project fund, police uniform services, Police Replacement Vehicles (35022122-67742-38012). AGENDA ITEM DESCRIPTION
The purchase of this BMW Motorcycle and associated equipment will be to add a second police motorcycle to the fleet. This motorcycle will be used as front line fully equipped and marked MPD patrol vehicle. The need for the second motor unit to the fleet is supported by:
1. Increase in traffic flow due to increase in population, and
2. Increase in injury related crashes due to inatentive and impaired drivers, and
3. The need for specified traffic related deployment 7 days a week versus the 4 days currently.
STAFF RECOMMENDATION
