TITLE
The Mayor and City Council shall discuss and possibly take action on approving a Memorandum of Understanding with the Maricopa Economic Development Alliance, an Arizona non-profit corporation, to partner on the State of City Event. Discussion and Action.
AGENDA ITEM DESCRIPTION
In an effort to expand attendance, increase business partnerships and the prominence of the Mayor’s annual State of the City staff recommends entering into a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Maricopa Economic Development Alliance (MEDA) to partner on the planning, promotion and sponsorship of the event. As part of this agreement MEDA will be responsible for collecting sponsorships for the event to pay for refreshments, entertainment, promotional materials and decorations. In return the sponsoring businesses will be recognized during the event. MEDA will also reach out to its members to promote the event and increase attendance.
The partnership enables MEDA to show leadership within the business community while also benefiting the City by expanding our annual event. Approval of this MOU will allow the donation collection process to proceed.
