The Mayor and City Council shall discuss and possibly take action on approving a Third Amendment to the agreement with Wilson and Company for services related to the Area Transportation Plan Update to extend the term to December 31, 2018 in accordance with Arizona State Cooperative Contract ADSP018-00007887. AGENDA ITEM DESCRIPTION
This item requests extension of the contract period for the Phase III, Access Management, Area Transportation Plan to allow for city staff to conduct thorough public outreach regarding internal roadways and access management in certain character areas. There is no monetary change requested with this amendment. All other study tasks associated with Phase III will be substantially complete and ready for Transportation Advisory Committee review by September 30, 2018.
The overall Phase III Access Management study is an effort to create guidelines for access and traffic control, so the city has Council-approved uniform guidelines to use with new development. The objective is to ensure fair, consistent and effective access management as the city grows. This phase is isolated to the area within Maricopa city limits. Phase IV, continued access management study may be proposed in the future if the current Phase III study concept proves viable. Phase IV is envisioned to extend to the entire Maricopa Planning Area.
