TITLE
The Mayor and City Council shall discuss and possibly take action on approving a Second Amendment to extend the existing contract with Core Engineering Group, PLLC, in an amount not to exceed $1,000,000.00 during the renewal term, for on-call civil engineering services for multiple future projects, both known and to be determined. Based on the various projects that will require these services, funding sources and specific line items will be addressed on a case-by-case basis. Discussion and Action.
AGENDA ITEM DESCRIPTION
Staff has identified the need to maintain a pool of qualified, professional, on-call engineering consultants to supplement existing City forces. Services include Civil Engineering design, including survey, Geotechnical Engineering, environmental assessments, and landscape design; drainage and flood control design; and plan review services.
Compensation will be determined on a preauthorized, hourly rate basis. The fee, scope, and schedule will be negotiated for each project.
This contract was originally approved by City Council on August 4, 2015, for a two-year term , and renewed on August 1, 2017 for a one-year term. Although the contract is in an amount not to exceed $1,000,000.00, the City is not required to spend any amount. The City has successfully utilized this contracting method in the past, for services including Geotechnical Engineering, general Civil Engineering, right-of-way research, and surveying services.
This award is in accordance with City of Maricopa Purchasing Code, Article IV, Section 3-220, Professional and Technical Services, and Arizona State Statutes ยง 34-603. Before recommending award of this contract, an evaluation committee reviewed the responsive offers and conducted reference checks. Based on the results of their analyses, the evaluation committee recommended the award of an on-call civil engineering contract to Core Engineering Group, PLLC.
