TITLE
The Mayor and City Council shall discuss and possibly take action to approve an Amendment to the 2017-2019 Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Maricopa Officers Council - Fraternal Order of Police, Lodge 78. Discussion and Action.
AGENDA ITEM DESCRIPTION
The city of Maricopa and the Maricopa Officers Council - Fraternal Order of Police, Lodge 78, began negotiations in February 2017 and negotiations concluded in April 2017 for the current Memorandum of Understanding.
The City again met with the Local to review the recommendations as determined by the Classification and Compensation Study completed in October 2017. The parties mutually agreed to re-open the M.O.U. for the sole purpose of discussing a potential salary adjustment. If approved, this Addendum to the Memorandum of Understanding with the Maricopa Officers Council - Fraternal Order of Police, Lodge 78, will be in effect from May 13, 2018 through June 30, 2019.
This Amendment to the Memorandum of Understanding is based on a series of meetings between management staff and the Maricopa Officers Council - Fraternal Order of Police, Lodge 78. These meetings took place in accordance with the Meet and Confer Ordinance 11-09, Article VI of the City Code. The Maricopa Officers Council Fraternal Order of Police, Lodge 78 have been professional during the negotiations, and their open communication and spirit of cooperation have been appreciated. The cost of this MOU is forecasted to be $79,095 for fiscal year 2018-2019.
