TITLE

The Mayor and City Council shall discuss and possibly take action to approve the Design Consultant Contract with Pearlman Architects for design and construction administration services for the new Fire/Medical Administration Facility in a total amount not to exceed $647,725.  Funding for the project will be drawn from Capital Projects, Design Services - Buildings, Fire Administration (35022528-67725-38022).  Discussion and Action.

 

AGENDA ITEM DESCRIPTION

The City is developing a new Fire/Medical Administration Facility to be located at the northwest corner of Garvey Avenue and Estrella Parkway. The site is located immediately south of Fire Station 575 and east of the Public Works/Fleet Maintenance and Fire Maintenance Facility.  The new facility will provide an approximate 10,000 to 12,000 square foot building for office and warehouse/storage space.  The office space shall include amenities such as offices, conference rooms, kitchenette, dining area, training and classroom facilities, and restrooms.   The site shall also accommodate the placement of the Zephyr railcar which is to be relocated from its current location at the southeast corner of Maricopa Casa Grande Highway and State Route 347.  The site improvements shall include staff and visitor parking, landscape, hardscape and perimeter security fencing. The design and construction phase will take approximately two years to complete.  The funding requested includes the contract amount of $597,725 plus an owner’s allowance of $50,000, for a total amount not to exceed $647,725.

STAFF RECOMMENDATION

Staff recommends approval of the Design Consultant Contract with Pearlman Architects for the Fire/Medical Administration Facility in a total amount not to exceed $647,725.  Funding for the project will be drawn from Capital Projects, Design Services - Buildings, Fire Administration (35022528-67725-38022).
