TITLE

The Mayor and City Council shall hear a presentation from Ms. Rebecca Rothenberg, on the progress report of the Housing Plan.

AGENDA ITEM DESCRIPTION

In 2017, the City of Maricopa completed its Housing Needs Assessment with the assistance of Atria Planning LLC. Following this study, the City initated the development of a Housing Plan. Working with the Housing Committee, Atria Planning’s Rebecca Rothenberg has been leading the creation of the Housing Plan and has led three working sessions to create a Vision Statement, goals, and strategies for achieving this goal.

In addition, a Design Charrette was held on March 15 at the Council Chambers. Residents from Maricopa attended the forum and discussed City Center planning concepts and ideas. Through this workshop and design charrette, the design team will develop conceptual level planning and design for a new City Center that will include housing, retail, commercial, and open space. This public workshop gave the community their first opportunity to define the City Center vision and identify specific activities that they would like to happen within City Center.

Rebecca Rothenberg will provide Council an update and progress report on the Housing Plan, with a goal of completion by June 30, 2018.
