TITLE
The Mayor and City Council shall discuss and possibly take action to approve Amendment No. 1 to the current Intergovernmental Agreement (IGA) between the State of Arizona and the City of Maricopa for design and construction of roadway improvements for the Maricopa/Casa Grande (MCG) Highway, Porter Road to White and Parker Road. The City’s funding match is estimated at $340,498. The funding will be drawn from budget line item MCG Highway Widening, Porter to White & Parker (30044146-67750-35022). Discussion and Action.
AGENDA ITEM DESCRIPTION
The current IGA dated July 5, 2016, designates the State of Arizona, acting by and through its Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT) to serve as the City’s authorized agent for the roadway project and allows the use of federal funds for the project. The federal funds designated in the IGA for the project are $512,000 for design in Year 2016 and $2,538,500 for construction in Year 2018. With this Amendment No. 1 the federal funds for construction will be increased $1,029,898 for a total of $3,568,398 in Year 2018. The City’s revised funding match which is required to obtain the federal funds is estimated at $30,948 for design and $309,550 for construction.
The work proposed under the IGA and this Amendment No. 1 consists of the design and construction associated with adding two additional through traffic lanes (one in each direction) on MCG Highway from Porter Road to White and Parker Road to increase traffic capacity. Other improvements include adding separate turn lanes at each leg of the signalized intersection of White and Parker Road, reconstruction of the existing pavement section, and drainage facilities. The State will advertise, bid, award, and will administer the scoping, design and construction of the project.
