TITLE
The Mayor and City Council shall discuss and possibly take action to ratify the submission of a grant application for Transportation Alternatives through the Arizona Department of Transportation’s Safe Routes to School Program, in an amount not to exceed $188,196 for installation of 1,425 linear feet of sidewalk adjacent to State Route 347 and the Fry’s Shopping Center. There is a local match cost totaling $86,815 for this project; these local match funds will be taken from County Road Tax, Transportation, Street Projects-Capital (30055155-67750-34005). Ratification of a grant application includes designating the City Manager the authority to sign all documents necessary to complete the grant application. Discussion and Action.
AGENDA ITEM DESCRIPTION
Transportation Alternatives (TA) are federally funded, community-based projects that expand travel choices and enhance the transportation experience by integrating modes and improving the cultural, historic, and environmental aspects of our transportation infrastructure.
The Fry’s Shopping Center Sidewalk Project marks the fourth of three similar projects adding sidewalk infrastructure adjacent to State Route 347. Earlier and similar sidewalk projects include the installation of sidewalks adjacent to Cobblestone Farms, Alterra and Bashas’ subdivisions. This project limit begins just north of the recently constructed sidewalk adjacent to Edison Pointe by installing sidewalk adjacent to the Fry’s Shopping Center and connects the sidewalk network adjacent to Smith-Enke Road.
