TITLE

The Mayor and City Council shall hear a presentation on the Fleet Management Diagnostic Review prepared by Mercury Associates Inc. Discussion and Direction.

AGENDA ITEM DESCRIPTION

With the continued growth of the City and significantly more vehicles in operation it has become evident that improvements to Fleet Management need to be made. A Business Process Review of Fleet Management was completed on February 2017. The review was based on a financial perspective and a more detailed study was required to get a clear picture of how the City should best move forward to improve Fleet Management. On September 5, 2017, Council approved Mercury Associates Inc. to conduct a Fleet Management Diagnostic Review of the City's Fleet Operations. The assessment included the following areas with recommendations for each: Asset Allocation and Utilization Management, Asset Acquisition and Disposal, Driver/Operator Management, In-House Asset Maintenance and Repair, In-House Maintenance and Repair Parts Management, Outsourced Maintenance and Repair Management, Fleet Fueling, Fleet Management Resources Management, Fleet Management Information Management, Fleet Cost and Financial Management and Fleet Service Delivery Management.

CITY MANAGER'S RECOMMENDATION

To hear the presentation and provide direction on next steps.  I would recommend that next steps include incorporating the recommendations made by Mercury for improving service delivery in Fleet Maintenance into the Proposed FY2019-2021 Work Plan.
