TITLE
The Mayor and City Council shall hear and discuss a presentation by Dan Marum, Wilson & Company, of proposed Phase 3 study effort, Implementation Support, Maricopa Area Transportation Plan.
AGENDA ITEM DESCRIPTION
The Area Transportation Plan, (ATP) approved by Council in December 2015, with an update approved by Council in August 2017, established a City Transportation Master Plan (TMP) and a Regional Connectivity Plan. (RCP) The ATP identified the type and size of roadway facilities which will be needed in milestone future years. The ATP quantified the anticipated costs associated with these roadway improvements and included a flood and drainage element which identified bridge and culvert infrastructure and costs needed to support the ultimate roadway network. The ATP focused on Parkway and Arterial Roadway facilities.
As a logical and needed continuation of this comprehensive transportation plan, further study is needed to identify Frequency of Access, Access Spacing and Traffic Control. Identification and inclusion in the Area Transportation Plan is planned to follow, along with inclusion in City Development Standards and Codes, which will provide an objective basis for uniformity in requirements levied upon developers.
