TITLE

The Mayor and City Council shall discuss and possibly take action on approval of an Award of Contract with Resolute Performance Contracting, LLC for construction related to the removal and relocation of the parking canopies and solar panels at 19685 N John Wayne Parkway, and grant signature authority to the City Engineer to authorize change orders determined to be reimbursable by ADOT.  This contract, in an amount not to exceed $72,125, will be paid directly to the contractor by ADOT. Discussion and Action.

AGENDA ITEM DESCRIPTION

The parking canopies located at 19685 N John Wayne Parkway are in conflict with the proposed SR347 overpass project and will need to be demolished or relocated.  The cost to cure in ADOT’s offer letter for the subject property included relocation of the parking canopies and attached solar panels and lights.  ADOT has agreed to pay for relocation to the public parking lot south of City Hall, through direct compensation to the contractor, rather than as a reimbursement to the City.

Due to the requisite schedule for this project, in procuring these services the City has waived the procurement procedures set forth in the City of Maricopa's City Code and has relied on quotes received by the Arizona Department of Transportation for these services.

Staff is also requesting Council grant signature authority to the City Engineer to authorize change orders, for any changes to cost or scope to which ADOT agrees and will pay.  Time is of the essence on this contract, as the City has been given until June 8th to have the structures removed from the site.

This item will be presented by William P. Fay, Public Works Director.

STAFF RECOMMENDATION

Staff recommends that the Mayor and City Council approve an Award of Contract with Resolute Performance Contracting, LLC for construction related to the removal and relocation of parking canopies and solar panels.
