TITLE
The Mayor and Council shall discuss and possibly take action to approve the 2017-2019 Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Maricopa Officers Council - Fraternal Order of Police of Maricopa, Lodge 78. Discussion and Action.
AGENDA ITEM DESCRIPTION
The City of Maricopa and the Maricopa Officers Council-Fraternal Order of Police, Lodge 78, began negotiations in January 2017. Negotiations concluded in May 2017. This MOU is based on a series of meetings between management staff and the Maricopa Officers Council - Fraternal Order of Police, Lodge 78. These meetings took place in accordance with the Meet and Confer Ordinance 11-09, Article VI of the City Code. The cost of this MOU is forecasted to be $65,728 for fiscal year 2017-2018 for both the Police Officers and Sergeants.
If approved, this Memorandum of Understanding with the Maricopa Officers Council - Fraternal Order of Police, Lodge 78, will be in effect from July 1, 2017 through June 30, 2019.
The Maricopa Officers Council - Fraternal Order of Police, Lodge 78 , have been professional during the negotiations, and their open communication and spirit of cooperation have been appreciated.

STAFF RECOMMENDATION
Staff recommends the Mayor and Council approve the 2017-2019 Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Maricopa Officers Council - Fraternal Order of Police, Lodge 78.
