TITLE
The Mayor and City Council shall discuss and possibly take action to approve the 2017-2019 Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Professional Firefighters of Maricopa, IAFF Local 4561. Discussion and Action.
AGENDA ITEM DESCRIPTION
The City of Maricopa and the Professional Firefighters of Maricopa, IAFF Local 4561 began negotiations in January 2017. Negotiations concluded in April 2017. This MOU is based on meetings between management staff and representatives of the Professional Firefighters of Maricopa, IAFF Local 4561. These meetings took place in accordance with the Meet and Confer Ordinance 11-09, Article VI of the City Code. The cost of this MOU is forecasted to be $82,600 for Fiscal Year 2017-2018. The City will meet and discuss the results of the classification and compensation study with the Local regarding potential salary adjustments during Fiscal Year 2017-2018. No other additional costs are forecasted for Fiscal Year 2018-2019.
If approved, the Memorandum of Understanding with the Professional Firefighters of Maricopa, IAFF Local 4561 will be in effect for the period of July 1, 2017 through June 30, 2019.
The Professional Firefighters if Maricopa, IAFF Local 4561 have been professional during the negotiations and their open communication and spirit of cooperation were appreciated.

STAFF RECOMMENDATION
Staff recommends the Mayor and City Council approve the 2017-2019 Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Professional Firefighters of Maricopa, IAFF Local 4561.
