The Mayor and City Council shall hear a presentation on Maricopa Police Victim Services and an Update on the Family Advocacy Center. Discussion.
AGENDA ITEM DESCRIPTION
On 12/20/2016 The Mayor and City Council approved an Intergovernmental Agreement with the Ak-Chin Indian Community accepting a grant award from the Ak-Chin Indian Community Shared Revenue Program for a Family Advocacy and Resource Center in the City of Maricopa. Acceptance of this award was contingent upon the Maricopa Police Department working with partnering agencies in securing commitments through a signed agreements for the ongoing annual cost.
The grant award total is $278,712 for a one year period and includes the cost of a building lease, remodeling, security stems, digital forensic imagining, nine (9) workstations, nine (9) computers, a conference table and chairs, phones, book shelves, filing cabinets and printers. The Maricopa Police Department in partnership with Pinal County Attorney’s Office, Dignity Health, Honor Health, Arizona Coalition to End Sexual and Domestic Violence, First Things First, Casa Grande Police Department and other community stakeholders to fund a lease and remodel a viable building to develop a Family Advocacy and Resource Center. This will provide holistic, comprehensive care and investigation service for victims of crime with co-located service centers for victims of family violence and their children.
