TITLE

A Resolution of the Mayor and City Council of the City of Maricopa, Arizona, supporting the new administration adopting techniques set forth in the Law Enforcement Leaders to Reduce Crime and Incarceration's publication entitled Fighting Crime and Strengthening Criminal Justice:  An Agenda for the New Administration.  Discussion and Action.

 

AGENDA ITEM DESCRIPTION

The Maricopa Police Department seeks to adopt the techniques and strategies put forth in the Law Enforcement Leaders to Reduce Crime and Incarceration publication titled “Fighting Crime and Strengthening Criminal Justice: An Agenda for the New Administration”.  Techniques and strategies include the following:

                     Prioritize Resources to Combat Violent Crime

                     Support Reducing Unnecessary Incarceration and Federal Sentencing Reform

                     Increase Mental Health and Drug Treatment

                     Bolster Community Policing

                     Preserve and Expand Recidivism Reduction

 

STAFF RECOMMENDATION

Staff recommends the Mayor and City Council of the City of Maricopa, Arizona pass a resolution pertaining to the acceptance of the Maricopa Police Department in adoption of these techniques and strategies.
