TITLE
The Mayor and City Council shall discuss and possibly take action to approve a budgetary transfer request in the amount of $20,000 from General Fund, General Government, Contingency (10010000-99000) to General Fund, Building Safety, Professional and Occupational (10044142-53320) to hire temporary staff to assist with increasing numbers of building inspections. AGENDA ITEM DESCRIPTION
For several months, due to the increase in number of new housing permits submitted to the City, new commercial projects proposed and new lots being purchased or developed, our planners and building inspectors have become much busier than is normal for recent years. It has become apparent that in order to maintain expected levels of service, we need to hire at least one additional staff member immediately.
Four options are available at this time to meet the immediate need. The estimated costs of each option are listed in the attached detailed report.
Staff is requesting to hire temporary personnel through Devau Human Resources to assist the department for approximately 4 months in an amount not to exceed $20,000.

STAFF RECOMMENDATION
Staff recommends the Mayor and City Council approve the budgetary transfer request in the amount of $20,000 from General Fund, General Government, Contingency (10010000-99000) to General Fund, Building Safety, Professional and Occupational (10044142-53320) to hire temporary staff to assist the Building Division with inspections.
