A Resolution of the Mayor and City Council of the City of Maricopa, Arizona, authorizing the imposition and collection of an exhibitor fee from for-profit businesses participating in the 2017 Senior Info/Expo Event. Discussion and Action.
AGENDA ITEM DESCRIPTION
On October 6, 2015, the Mayor and City Council approved Regular Meeting Consent Agenda Item 9-4 (Age-Friendly Maricopa Implementation Plan final draft) which included a Senior Info/Expo event. The Senior Info/Expo budget not to exceed $5,161.00 was approved by the Mayor and City Council on November 3, 2015 as Regular Agenda Item 10.1 BDGT 15-11.
Thanks to cash sponsorships from the Arizona Department of Health Services (ADHS), Pinal-Gila Council for Senior Citizens (PGCSC)/Area Agency for Aging Region V and Cenpatico Integrated Care the 2016 Senior Info/Expo the money budgeted by the city was not used. In fact, there is $1,600 carried over from last year to apply for the 2017 Senior Info/Expo event. Additionally, ADHS and PGCSC have expressed a willingness to provide sponsorships again for our upcoming 2017 event scheduled from 10 am to 2 pm, Saturday, January 21, 2017 here at Maricopa City Hall.
Last year, only non-profit organizations participated in the Senior Info/Expo (with the exception of a law firm specializing in elder law and legal concerns) but we had a number of requests from business and service providers. For 2017, the Age-Friendly Maricopa Advisory Committee has indicated the Senior Info/Expo would be a good way to promote new (and existing) businesses/service providers in Maricopa.
The attached pertinent sections of the 5.4/September 19, 2016 and 5.3/October 17, 2016 Age-Friendly Maricopa Advisory Committee minutes address the Senior Info/Expo Event.
