TITLE

A resolution of the Mayor and City Council of the City of Maricopa, Arizona, amending the Community Services Department Fee Schedule and the Copper Sky Multigenerational/Aquatic Center Fee Schedule to authorize the imposition and collection of fees for equipment rental and to approve an increase in fees for adult enrichment programs and senior programs.  Discussion and Action.

AGENDA ITEM DESCRIPTION

In an effort to brand the current enrichment programs as well as increase personal health and wellness, staff worked on developing the Maricopa Outdoor Recreation and Environmental Education (MOREE) - a municipal program designed to serve the Maricopa community by providing experiential learning through outdoor recreation and environmental education. The goal is to provide a comprehensive model of programming to insure Maricopa residents can experience a healthier lifestyle through experimental outdoor education.

An overview of this program was presented to the Parks, Recreation and Libraries Committee on October 28, 2015 where it received recommendation of support.

On December 1, 2015 an overview of the MOREE program was presented to City Council as well as the proposed fees and charges to include these outdoor program offerings.  On December 2, 2015 in accordance with A.R.S. Section 9-499.15 the proposed fees and charges were posted on the City's website for 60 days for public comment. As of January 14, 2016, staff has not received comments on the posted fees and charges.

This item is being presented by Joshua Bowman, Recreation Coordinator - Enrichment.
