TITLE
A Resolution of the Mayor and City Council of the City of Maricopa, Arizona, authorizing an increase in the Copper Sky Multigenerational/Aquatic Center membership discount for veterans and amending the Copper Sky Multigenerational/Aquatic Center Fee Schedule to include the revised discount amount. Discussion and Action.
AGENDA ITEM DESCRIPTION
Staff has been instructed to research the impact of increasing the military Veterans discount rate for Copper Sky memberships. Currently, Copper Sky offers a 5% membership discount to any eligible military Veteran towards whatever membership they have. This proposal would increase the current 5% rate to a 10% discount rate.
Staff ran a report on current membership receiving a military Veteran adjustment and projected the financial impact it would have transferring those accounts to these new rates. There are 138 total accounts that would need to be adjusted. The total financial impact would be a loss of $4,460.25.
Here is a breakout of financial adjustment per membership category:
- 1 Adult Membership Adjustment - $211.80
- 2 Adult Membership Adjustment= $606.25
- Youth/Student Membership Adjustment =$48.50
- Senior Membership Adjustment =$62.00
- Senior Couple Membership Adjustment =$273.90
- Family Membership Adjustment = $3,257.80
STAFF RECOMMENDATION
Staff reccomends adopting this additional Copper Sky Veteran membership discount rate if the Mayor and Council find it to be in the best interest of the City of Maricopa.
