TITLE
A Resolution of the Mayor and City Council of the City of Maricopa, Arizona, approving the renaming of Cowpath Road, which is generally located north of the Desert Passage Subdivision in the City of Maricopa, to Santi Road. Discussion and Action.

AGENDA ITEM DESCRIPTION
This is a request for review and approval of a proposed street name change generally north of the Desert Passage Subdivision. Case #ADR14-21 has been filed requesting renaming of existing W. Cowpath Road to W. Santi Road. This street is generally defined as a collector road and serves the Seven Ranches area and the Our Lady of Grace Community site connecting to White and Parker Road and ending approximately a half-mile west at Whisker Road (see attached).

An application has been filed with the City of Maricopa by Our Lady of Grace Parish leadership for a street name change as described above. Per Council adopted Resolution 14-11, a public hearing is required for a street name change.
This short memorandum provides preliminary information to the City Council in preparation of the proposed street name change.
Background
Changing a street name often has significant financial impact on property owners, tenants and the city (bank accounts, letterhead, business cards, deeds, licenses, signage, advertisements, phone book listings, permits and other records). In this case, there is one propery addressed along W. Cowpath Road and the property owners did sign a letter of support provided by the applicant.
In addition, private mapping services such as Google, Map Quest, Bing, or Yahoo need the information to update maps to reflect accurate street name. Obtain their information from County Recorder’s Office data (could take 1-2 years to document street name change). As such, a well-coordinated effort has to be made when a street name change is proposed, i.e., public input, emergency providers acceptance, and finally an approval from the City Council.
