TITLE
The Mayor and City Council shall discuss and possibly take action on the City of Maricopa Non-Profit Funding Program applicants and evaluation results and make a recommendation for funding contingent upon formal adoption of the FY12-13 budget. Discussion and Action.

AGENDA ITEM DESCRIPTION
On December 7, 2011, a Request for Proposals was announced accepting applications with a deadline of submission no later than January 31, 2012.

Goal:
The goal of the program is to create Partnerships with Community Organizations. This will be accomplished by providing health, human, and/or quality of life services to the residents of Maricopa. The non-profit funding requests recommended during each grant process fulfills the intent of the Maricopa Strategic Plan and designated City Council priorities while also leveraging City dollars.

Program Requirements:
The following are the requirements applicants must meet in order to be eligible for aware.
· An agency must be able to provide IRS letter sanctioning non-profit status.
· Applicants must provide direct services which improve the health and welfare of Maricopa residents that have measureable outcomes.
· Applicants must demonstrate the ability to generate revenue from other sources for future sustainability.
· Priority will be given to services and initiatives that support and address the City of Maricopa Strategic Plan.
· Request from religious organizations must be for secular human services.
· Funding will be provided on a year to year basis at the discretion of City Council.
· Grant funding will be distributed to awarded agencies on a semi-annual basis.
· Grant awardees will be required to complete quarterly reports at 3 month intervals and provide a presentation to City Council at the end of the first 6 months.
· Maricopa City Council has the discretion to award a lesser amount than requested.
