TITLE
The Mayor and City Council shall discuss and possibly take action on approving a purchase of fifty Tasers X2 from Pro Force for the City of Maricopa Police Department in an amount not to exceed $62,338 and approve a budgetary transfer of $62,338 from General Fund Engineering, Professional and Occupational (10044145-53320-31005) to General Fund Police Uniform, Non-Capital Equipment (10022122-55690). AGENDA ITEM DESCRIPTION
The Taser X 26 models currently used by the Police Department are out of warranty. Research conducted in looking for a replacement has led us to the Taser X2. This model offers improved technology for officer safety, supplying two cartridges in the event of multiple assailants, as well as dual lasers for accuracy. The product also contains self-diagnostics to indicate whether the device is operating efficiently. The cost of this product includes the X2 taser, holster and extended 4-year warranty. The cost also includes the trade-in value of $12,500.00 for our current stock of X26's.
STAFF RECOMMENDATION
Staff recommends approval of the purchase of fifty (50) Tasers X2 from Pro Force, including a $62,338 transfer from General Fund Engineering, Professional and Occupational (10044145-53320-31005) to General Fund Police Uniform, Non-Capital Equipment (10022122-55690).
