AGENDA ITEM DESCRIPTION
The City Council recommended the Police Department change dispatch services and join the (RWC) Regional Wireless Cooperative. In preparation of the 2017 federal mandate (FCC) for law enforcement agencies to be in the narrow band compliance, Maricopa PD has researched & recommends the Motorola APX700 portable radio & the APX7500 mobile radio.

The purchase of these radios not only puts us into compliance for the future, it allows us to continue communications with our surrounding partners, GRIC, Ak-Chin, Pinal County and additional partners already in membership.

The proposed purchase of $784,306 is net of a $96,800 credit offered for the purchase of our current radios. The budget transfer request is to take advantage of the credit offered this fiscal year. Currently, a total of $908,200 is requested over the next three fiscal years in the FY2013-FY2022 Ten Year Capital Improvement Plan, from General Governmental revenues, which would be the same source of funding as this budget transfer request. If approved, this $908,200 project request will not be needed.
