TITLE
The Mayor and City Council shall discuss and possibly take action on approving the purchase of 20-21 ruggedized mobile data terminals (Panasonic Toughbook laptops) from CDW-G for the City of Maricopa's Police Department in an amount not to exceed $75,000. This will be funded from General Fund, Police Uniforms, Computer Equipment/Software (10022122-67744-32089) which was part of the CIP program adopted in FY11-12. Discussion and Action.
AGENDA ITEM DESCRIPTION
The City of Maricopa Police Department currently utilizes a ruggedized Panasonic CF-30 Toughbook model with good success. We currently have 48 vehicles in the fleet equipped with mounting hardware and docking stations to support the Panasonic Toughbook line.
Our current recommendation is the continued use of the ruggedized Panasonic Toughbook line. The Panasonic CF-31 model is capable of utilizing our current vehicle docks and provides higher computing power and memory resources. This mobile data terminal (MDT) meets/exceeds our anticipated application requirements for a 4 to 5 year life cycle. Per the current Capital Improvement Projects (CIP) plan, staff is seeking to replace one third of the current laptop inventory each fiscal year, if necessary, to coincide with the equipment replacement policy.

Staff recommends approval of the purchase of 20-21 ruggedized mobile data terminals (Panasonic Toughbook laptops) from CDW-G for the City of Maricopa's Police Department.
