TITLE

The Mayor and City Council shall discuss and take action to approve an Intergovernmental Agreement with the City of Chandler for the purpose of enabling the Maricopa Fire/Medical Department to participate in Fire Service trainings hosted by the Chandler Fire and Rescue Department.  Discussion and Action.

AGENDA ITEM DESCRIPTION

The Mayor and City Council shall discuss and take action on the proposed Intergovernmental Agreement 26-07 with the City of Chandler for the purpose of allowing Maricopa Fire/Medical Department employees to attend the Chandler Fire Department’s Fire Service Trainings, including the Firefighter Recruit Training Academy. The City of Maricopa will pay the amount identified in the Fire Service Training Menu, Exhibit A, for each employee that attends training. Each such agreement shall be signed by both Parties prior to the start of training. The Chandler Fire and Rescue Department offers Fire service training that includes, but is not limited to: Aircraft Rescue Firefighter (ARFF) Certification Training, Firefighter Recruit Training, Fire Inspector Training, Hazardous Material Technical (HZM) Certification Training, EMT/Paramedic Recertification Training (CORE), and Technical Rescue Technician (TRT) Certification Training, and follow-on required continuing education and training.

Funding for the recruit Academy fees and other trainings chosen by the department have been approved in the FY27 Education and Training budget.

 

STAFF RECOMMENDATION

Staff recommends approval of Intergovernmental Agreement with City of Chandler for Fire Services Training.
