TITLE

A Resolution of the Mayor and City Council of the City of Maricopa, Arizona, adopting a revised fee schedule for the Development Services Department.  Discussion and Action.

AGENDA ITEM DESCRIPTION

This request is to repeal the existing fee schedule, as the new fee schedule for Planning & Zoning, Engineering, Building Safety, Code Enforcement, Fire Prevention and Floodplain. The fees are intended to pay for services provided by the department to ensure substantial compliance with applicable City codes and ordinances, which protect the health, safety, and general welfare of the public.

Fees are determined through two mechanisms. One mechanism is the use of a building valuation data table, which aids in determining the construction value of a construction project; when the value is determined, a fee is calculated. The other mechanism is a fee schedule, with specific fees for services provided. Any change to the fee schedule requires Council action for amendment to the fee schedule.

Since the previous fee update, fee items have been revised to assist with covering related expenses and some additional fees added.  These fees will be effective 30 days after approval.

Some of the fee schedules changes are the following:

Development Services, Planning and Zoning Division:

•                     Added Map of Dedications fee.

•                     Added Recording Fee.

•                     Revised General Plan Amendment Major (new) fee.

•                     Revised General Plan Amendment Minor (amendment) fee.

•                     Revised PADs/Major PAD Amendment fee.

•                     Revised Minor PAD Amendment fee.

•                     Revised Minor/Major Development Review Permit: Residential fee.

•                     Revised Minor/Major Development Review Permit: Non-Residential fee.

•                     Revised Rezoning (conventional) fee.

•                     Removed Recording Fee from Miscellaneous.
