TITLE
The Mayor and City Council shall discuss and take action on approval of an Intergovernmental Agreement (IGA) with Electrical District No. 3 (ED3) of Pinal County, Arizona and City of Maricopa for the undergrounding of certain overhead electric lines within the Heritage District. Discussion and Action.
AGENDA ITEM DESCRIPTION
The City initiated a project with ED3 to place certain overhead electric power lines underground within an alley way south of Honeycutt Road between John Wayne Parkway (SR 347) and Plainview Street. ED3 has requested an IGA with the City to establish responsibilities for present and future relocations of these electric facilities. Through this IGA, ED#3 agrees to relocate the overhead electric power lines and the City agrees to pay for the relocation costs associated with the project. If the electric facilities require relocation in the future, then the responsible party needing the relocation will pay for the costs to relocate. As such, the City may require a third party to relocate the electric facilities as part of a private development project and that third party would be responsible for those costs.
The City has budgeted $280,000 in FY 22-23 for this project to underground these overhead electric lines. The City received a Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) of $130,000 for this project. The remaining $150,000 is funded from the Capital Projects fund.

STAFF RECOMMENDATION
Staff recommends that the Mayor and City Council approve the (IGA) between the City of Maricopa and the Electric District No. 3 (ED3).
