TITLE
The Mayor and City Council shall discuss and possibly take action to enter into an intergovernmental agreement between the City of Maricopa Fire Department and the Maricopa Unified School District for use of facilities for disaster services. Discussion and action.
AGENDA ITEM DESCRIPTION
The Emergency Response and Recovery Plan identifies the Maricopa Unified School District as a provider of various primary and secondary services in the event of an emergency, however there are no formal agreements in place. An IGA between the City of Maricopa and the Maricopa Unified School District formalizes the use of facilities, grounds, buildings, vehicles and equipment to assist with providing disaster services.

In the event of a declared emergency or disaster, the City emergency management team may request of the use of MUSD facilities, vehicles, and equipment for Disaster Services. The School District may, at its sole discretion, permit the City to use its facilities for up to thirty days.

No rent will be charged for the use of these facilities, however the City is responsible for the following items:

1. Providing appropriate staffing to ensure that the facilities are used safely and appropriately;
2. Maintaining the facilites in good condition, and returning the facilities in the same condition as they were when they were made available;
3. Providing, replacing, or reimbursing MUSD for any consumable supplies or food used during the City's use of the facilities.

Effectively responding to and recovering from diasters and emergency events requires the cooperation of the entire community. This agreement helps to provide our citizens with the facilities and equipment needed for evacuations and sheltering during these events.
