TITLE

AGENDA ITEM DESCRIPTION
The City of Maricopa partners with the City of Eloy on the Community Development Block Grant. We (Maricopa and Eloy) receive a funding distribution every year through the CDBG. The City of Maricopa takes the odd numbered years and City of Eloy the even. On 3/19/2015 the City of Maricopa was notified through CAG the RA allocation for 2015 is $264,835. The City held public hearings on several projects and settled on the Improvements for the Heritage District.
The Heritage District project will be focused on clearing properties within the District to enable redevelopment. This area consists of numerous lots which are in significant disrepair. A large percentage of these lots are vacant containing significant amounts of trash and dilapidated structures. The goal is to provide a collaborative response among various city departments to identify any and all safety concerns such as exposed electric wiring, unsafe structures and other obvious health safety concerns. This project will assist property owners who are willing to bring their properties to an acceptable condition. Those property owners who choose not to be cooperative will be addressed through progressive enforcement and possible civil abatement. City staff has identified the properties and received the environmental clearances from the Arizona, Department of Housing to move forward with the project.
