TITLE

A resolution of the Mayor and City Council of the City of Maricopa, Arizona, amending Section 6, Leave, of the City Personnel Policies and Procedures Handbook to adopt an amended vacation years of service accrual schedule.  Discussion and Action.

AGENDA ITEM DESCRIPTION

The City of Maricopa contracted with Gallagher Benefit Services, Inc. to conduct a comprehensive classification and compensation study. The study was a total rewards study, including market data on pay and applicable benefits.

Gallagher, through a custom survey, Arizona League of Cities survey and the Gallagher National Benefits Survey, gathered general market data with regard to leave, health, dental and vision insurance. The study determined that the vacation accrual rate for the City is below its market comparators for those in the first three years of employment with the City. The recommendation is to eliminate the current accrual category of 'zero-to-three years' and thereby create a 'zero-to-five-years' category that accrues 112 hours of vacation annually, with a maximum carry-forward of 160 hours.

If approved, the change would take affect at the start of the first full pay period in January.
