TITLE
The Mayor and City Council shall discuss and possibly take action on approval of a temporary event traffic plan for the Great American 4th Event at the Copper Sky park facility.  This traffic plan will operate on July 4th, 2014 from the hours of 2pm and 11pm. Discussion and Action.
AGENDA ITEM DESCRIPTION
The Maricopa City Code Section 12 is currently being revised and is under legal review prior to being presented to City Council.  Within the proposed revision is a code revision that would authorize the Chief of Police, or his designee, to post temporary/emergency "no parking" signs on public streets for the purpose of maintenance, construction, special events or any community related event.  The duration of temporary/emergency "no parking" shall be no longer than 72 hours.  Vehicles found in violation of this order may be removed at the expense of the owner after a reasonable attempt has been made to contact the owner.
 
The traffic plan for the Great American 4th, 4th of July celebration will consist of parking temporary/emergency no parking signs on the following streets.
·      Bowlin Road, from SR 347 to 250 feet East of Brittlebush Lane in both directions.
·      Brittlebush Lane, the entire length from Bowlin Road to SR 347 in both directions.
·      All interior streets within the Copper Sky Park Facility.
 
This item will be presented by Maricopa Chief of Police Steve Stahl.
 
STAFF RECOMMENDATION
Staff recommends that the Mayor and City Council approve this temporary event traffic plan for the Great American 4th on July 4, 2014 from 2pm to 11pm.  Creating temporary/emergency "no parking" areas in order to create a safe and efficient flow of traffic to and from this public event.
