AGENDA ITEM DESCRIPTION

This request is to purchase five (5) Bullard Eclipse LDX Thermal Imaging Cameras and the upgrade of two (2) Bullard T3 Cameras to the Bullard Eclipse LDX Thermal Imaging Cameras. These cameras will be assigned to all the front line apparatus to include the Battalion vehicle. The cameras will enable firefighters to be able to “see” more clearly enhancing the safety of firefighters and providing quicker search of the involved structure. There is a safety issue if we continue using our older cameras we currently have due to the fact they have reached their service life and these newer cameras have an improved technology to enhance the picture on the camera.

This purchase is being requested in conjunction with the General Budget for the purchase of equipment that will replace the 10-year-old equipment.  Approval of this request will enhance public safety by providing a quality thermal imaging camera to increase the safety of our firefighters and enhancing their capabilities in conducting searches in hazardous environments.

This request is based on Section 3-223 "Cooperative Purchasing" of the City Code.  Staff seeks to utilize GSA Contract No. GS-07F-0043L to procure the Bullard Eclipse Cameras.

This item will be presented by Chief Brady Leffler.
